The Dream Book I always get asked what does this and what does that mean. So, I have composed a dream book that explains what the common things mean in dreams like for example: death, marriage, flying and drowning, plus others. I hope this will help everyone get a better understanding about their dreams. The interpretations are from the book 10,000 Dreams Interpreted by G.H. Miller. |

Some common dreams... Death- To dream of seeing any of your people dead, warns you of coming dissolution or sorrow. Disappointments always follow such dreams. To hear of any friends or relatives being dead, you will soon have bad news from some of them. Dreams relating to death or dying, unless they are due to spiritual causes, can be misleading and confusing. A man who things intensely fills his aura with thought or subjective images active with the passions that gave them birth; by thinking and acting on other lines, he may supplant these images with others possessed of a different form and nature. In his dreams he may see these images dying, dead, or being buried, and mistake them for friend or enemies. In this way he may, while asleep see himself or a relative die, when in reality he has been warned that some good thought or deed is to be supplanted by an evil one. To illustrate: If it is a dear friend or relative whom he sees in the agony of death, he s warned against immortal or other improper thought and action, but if it is an enemy or some repulsive object dismantled in death, he may overcome his evil ways. Often the end or beginning of suspense or trials is foretold by dreams of this nature. They also occur when the dreamer is controlled by imaginary states of evil or good. A man in that state is not himself, but is what the dominating influences make him. He may be warned of appoaching conditions or his extrication from the same. In our dreams we are closer to our real self than in waking life. The hideous or pleasing incidents seen and heard about us in our dreams are all of own making; they reflect the true state of our soul and body, and we cannot flee from them unless we drive them out of our being by the use of good thoughts and deeds, by the power of the spirit within us.
Dead- To dream of the dead, is usually a dream of warning. If you see and talk with your father, some unlucky transaction is about to be made by you. Be careful how you enter into contracts; enemies are around you. Men and women are warned to look to their reputations after this dream. To see your mother, warns you to control your inclination to cultivate morbidness and ill will towards your fellow cretures. A brother, or other relative or friend, denotes that you may be called on for charity or aid within short time. To dream of seeing the dead, living and happy, signifies that you are letting wrong influences into your life, which will bring material loss if not corrected by the assumption of your own will power. To dream that you are conversing with a dead relative, and that relative endeavors to extract a promise from you, warns you of coming distress, unless you follow the advice given you. Disastrous consequences could often be averted if minds could grasp the inner wokings and sight of the higher or spiritual self. The voice of relatives is only that higher self taking from to approach more distinctly the mind that lives near the material plane. There is so little congeniality between common or material natures that persons should depend upon their own subjectivity for true contentment and pleasure. Also to hear the voice of the dead, may be a warning of her own serious illness, or some business worry from bad judgement may ensue. The voice is an echo thrown back from the future on the subjective mind, taking the sound of her ancestor's voice by coming in contact with that part of her ancestor which remains with her. A certain portion of mental matter remains the same in lines of family descent. Marriage- For a woman to dream that she marries an old, decrepit man, with wrinkled face and gray head, denotes that she will have a vast amout of trouble and sickness to encounter. If, while the ceremony is in progress, her lover passes, wearing black and looking at her in a reprochful way, she will be driven to desperation by the coldness and lack of sympathy of a friend. To dream of seeing a marriage, denotes high enjoyment, if the wedding guests attend in pleasing colours and are happy; if they are dressed in black or other somber hues, there will be mourning and sorrow in store for the dreamer. If you dream of contracting a marriage, you will have unpleasant news from the absent. If you are an attendant at a wedding, you will experience much pleasure from the thoughtfulness of loved ones, and business affairs will be unusually promising. Flying- To dream of flying high through space, denotes marital calmities. To fly low, almost to the ground, indicates sickness and uneasy states from which the dreamer will recover. To dream that you fly over muddy waters, warns you to keep close with your private affairs, as enemies are watching to enthrall you. To fly over broken places, signifies ill luck and gloomy suroundings. If you notice green trees and vegetation below you in flying, you will suffer temporary embarrassment, but will have a flood of prosperity upon you. |
More dreams... Aliens- To dream of encoutering space aliens, means that you will meet people whom you consider bizarre and strange. You will at first feel uncomfortable with them, but they will soon become very positive influences in your life.
Baby- A bright, clean baby, denotes love requited, and many warm friends. Baby carriages- means that you will have a congenial friend who will devise many pleasurable surprizes for you. Tornado- dreaming about a tornado means you will be filled with disappointment and perplexity over the miscarriage of studied plans for swift attainment of fortune. High tides- high tides means indicative progression in you affairs. Meat- To dream of carving meat denotes bad investments; but, if a change is made, prospects will be brighter. Horses- To ride a horse means sickness afterward. Bridge- The bridge means a final surmounting of difficulties, thoygh the means seem hardly safe to use. Any obstacle or delay denotes disaster. Nails- Nails indicates much toil and small recompenses. The dark room means that it is overtaking you on a journey, augurs ill for any work you may attempt, unless the sun breaks through before the journey ends; then faults will be overcome. To feel yourself abused means that you will be molested by the enmity of others. To dream of entering a door, denotes slander and enemies from whom you are trying in vain to escape. This is the same of any door, except the door of your childhood home. If it is this door you dream of entering, this means that your days will be filled with plenty and congeniality. Lean, filthy dogs, indicate failure in business; also sickness among children. To dream that you feel fear from any cause, your future engagements will not prove successful. For a young woman, this dream forebodies disappointment an unfortunate love. To have a dream that you see a large concourse of people gathering at a hanging, denotes that many enemies will club together to try to demolish your position in their midst. To dream that you are dancing, means that some unexpected good fortune will come to you. To dream of the sky, signifies distinguished honors and interesting travel with cultured companions, if the sky is clear. To see the sunset, is prognostic of joys and wealth passing their zenith, and warns you to care for your interests with renewed vigilance. To see bright transparent clouds with the sun shining through them, you will be successful after trouble has been your compassion. To dream of a sorcerer, foretells that your ambitions will undergo strange disappointments. |

Other common dreams include... Naked- To dream that you are naked, foretells scandal and unwise engagements. To dream that you suddenly discover your nudity, and are trying to conceal it, denotes that you have sought illicit pleasure contrary to your noblest instincts and are desirous of abandoning those desires.
Museum- To dream of a museum, means that you will pass through many and varied scenes in striving for what appears your rightful position. You will acquire useful knowledge, which will stand you in better light than if you had pursued the usual course of learning. If the museum is distasteful you will have many causes for vexation. Toys- To see toys in dreams, foretells family joys, if whole and new, but if broken, death will rend your heart with sorrrow. Flying birds- To dream about flying birds, is a sign of prosperity to the dreamer. All disagreeable environments will vanish before the wave of perspective good. Ducks- To see ducks flying, foretells a brighter future for you. It also denotes marriage, and children in the new home. (But, the duck in your dream was suddenly turned to ash, so I think this is the opposite). Trees- To dream of trees in new foliage, foretells a happy consummation of hopes and desires. To see green trees newly felled, portends unhappiness coming unexpectedly upon scenes of enjoyment or prosperity. Sky- To dream of the sky, signifies distinguished honors and interesting travel with cultured companions, if the sky is clear. Grass- this is a very propitious dream indeed. It gives promise of a happy and well-advanced life to the tradesman, rapid accumulation of wealth, fame to literary and artistic people, and, to all lovers, a safe voyage through the turbulent sea of love. If in passing through green grass, you pass withered places, it denotes sickness or business embarrassments. To be a perfect dream, the grass must be clear of obstruction or blemishes. If you dream of withered grass, the reverse is predicted. Ashes- Dreaming of ashes omens woes, and many bitter changes are sure to come to the dreamer. Blasted crops to the farmer. Unsuccessful deals for the trader. Parents will reap the sorrows of wayward children. Father- To dream of you father, signifies that you are about to be involved in a difficulty, and you will need wise counsel if you are to extricate yourself therefrom. Mother- if your mother is a spirit in your dream. Which means that some unexpected trouble will confront you. Spirits-To see spirits in a dream, denotes that some unexpected trouble will confront her. If they are black robed it means that you will meet with treachery and unfaithfulness. For a ghost to speak to her, she will be decoyed into the hands of enemies. For a woman, this is a prognostication of widowhood and deception. White handkerchiefs- which means that you will resist the insistent flattery of unscrupulous persons, and gain entrance into high relations with love and matrimony. Minister- To dream of seeing a minister, means unfortunate changes and unpleasant journeys. Ships- To dream of ship(s), foretells honor and unexpected elevation to ranks above your mode of life. Religion- If you dream of discussing religion and feel religiously inclined, you will find much to mar the calmness of your life, and business will turn a disagreeable front to you.If a young woman imagines that she is overreligious, she will disgust her lover with her efforts to act ingenuous innocence and goodness. If she is irreligious and not a transgressor, it foretells that she will have that independent frankness and kind consideration for others which wins for women profound respect and love from the opposite sex, as well as her own; but if she is a transgressor in the eyes of religion, she will find that there are moral laws which, if disregarded, will place her outside the pale of honest recognition. She should look well after her conduct. If she weeps over religion, she will be disappointed in the desires of her heart. If she is defiant, but innocent of offense, she will shoulder her burdens bravely and stand firm against any deceitful admonitions. Amusement park- to see yourself in an amusement park, denotes that you will soon have a vacation. To dream of actually being on one of the rides, signifies that you will soon be able to enjoy life more and be less inhibited. Strange noise- If she hears a strange noise in her dream, unfavourable news is presaged. If the noise awakens her, there will be a sudden change in her affairs. Crying babies/people- To dream of crying babies, is indicative of ill health and disappointments. To hear people crying out in distress, denotes that she will be engulfed in serious troubles; but by being alert, she will finally emerge from these distressing straits and gain by this temporary gloom. |
